  • The Effects of Burrowing Animals on the Safety of Earthen Dams, A research project conducted at the University of South Carolina, 03/2018 – 03/2019.

Visited five dams in South Carolina, collected soil samples, carried out geotechnical tests, and numerical seepage analyses of dams under animal activity. A journal paper is submitted to the Journal of Hydraulic Research from this project.

  • Investigation of Burrowing Animal Impacts on Seepage through Earth-fill Dams, $1415 grant funded by TED University Undergraduate Research Fund, Project No: 0URF16B0001, Principal Investigator, 01/2017-06/2017.

Carried out seepage analysis on a hypothetical dam subject to beaver and muskrat activity. A conference paper was submitted to IWRA World Water Congress in Cancun, Mexico in 2017, and the research was presented there.

  • Computation and evaluation of waterhammer pressures of Yunuslar Hydropower Plant, Consultancy services to Plansu Eng. Ltd., Project No: 14.03.03.1.00.31. Consultant, 03/2014-04/2014.

In this study, transient pressures occurring during the start and stop of the turbines of Yunuslar Hydropower Plant located in Kastamonu, Turkey were calculated. The continuity and momentum equations of the unsteady flow in the penstock of the power plant were solved using the Method of Characteristics. Different turbine opening and closing conditions which will cause transient pressures were considered. Turbine opening and closing times were proposed considering the maximum and minimum pressures in the penstock.

  • Investigation of seepage through earth-fill dams within an uncertainty-based framework, $7241 grant funded by Middle East Technical University Research Fund, Project No: BAP-03-03-2013-004, Researcher, 2012-2013.

The stochastic seepage analyses of a heterogeneous and anisotropic earthen dam were conducted. Monte Carlo simulations were used to estimate the probability distributions of the flow rate passing through a simple zoned dam.

  • River navigation, flood protection and river training applications between Uluabat Lake andMarmara Sea, Consultancy services to Yuksel Proje Int., Project No: 2012-03-03-2-0053, Researcher, 08/2012-09/2012.

As a researcher of the project, I conducted the hydraulic analysis of the main stream connecting Uluabat Lake to Marmara Sea, Turkey using HEC-RAS under various flood conditions. I proposed river bed dredging and training structures for the river navigation.
